About Us
The Underwater Residents was founded on 30 October 2012. We are a community of qualified divers who are mad about having fun while being safe. We come from all walks of life and are bonded by a love for the deep blue and an insatiable thirst for the unknown! We love meeting people and connecting with friends we have met over time. With our unique identities and monikers, we form "The Underwater Residents" as we have one common goal- to dive safely while experiencing a sense of adventure!

It's easy. Join us for the next organised trip and think of a unique nickname that represents your diving identity. We will have your nickname printed on your very own T-shirt. Before you know it, we'll be at the airport awaiting our awesome adventure! There is absolutely no membership fee charged. Our community consists of open water divers, advanced divers, dive master and dive instructors. Can't wait to embark on your next journey with us? Check out our upcoming trips now!
*Note: We are not a tour agency or dive company and do not collect or book any air tickets for you. Our role is to help to liaise with the boat or resort owner for a planned trip after consolidating confirmed attendance. This means that the biggest benefit of joining our community will be the assurance that you get to enjoy the camaraderie of diving with a community of passionate divers who prioritise safety.
FAQ
Can I join in for the trips if I am a solo diver?
Of course! The purpose of our community is to gather like-minded divers to have fun together and take care of each other so it will be a fruitful and enjoyable experience.
I have not dived for many years, can I still be part of the community?
Of course! However, we would suggest that you take a refresher course. This is to equip with you with a sense of familiarity and renewed confidence when it comes to the skills and safety procedures you had once learnt. Alternatively, if you are still very familiar with the diving equipment and skills required, you can get into the groove of diving on your trip itself. We will always do a checkout dive at all our trips and this is an opportunity for you to become accustomed to diving again. With our dive masters and dive instructors, you will be in good hands as they will guide you along and assist you. Remember, it is always our priority to dive safe!
I just passed my open water diving course, can I join your trip?
This will depend on which dive site we are going to. Some dive sites are not suitable for inexperienced divers as it requires more advanced skills and the need to handle some aspects of nature that might be unsafe for a new diver. If you are unsure of whether you're able to join in, just drop us a message and we will advise you accordingly.
Do I need to have my own dive gear when I am going on a trip with you?
You do not need to own gear to join our trip. You can always rent equipment from any local dive shop before heading for the trip. If you do not have any contacts, we can recommend some dive shops that provide rental of gear and equipment. Thereafter, you will liaise directly with the shop.
Are you a dive company?
We are not a dive company and we do not have a shop. We are just a community of divers who love diving. We want to share our passion and love with the people we meet. We understand that sometimes, people have difficulties looking to organise a trip on their own as they might be daunted by the logistics or unable to find people who would like to dive together. Thus, this is the reason why this community was founded! We love to meet like-minded divers and utilise our experience to share our love for diving through organised trips. As such, we only plan and organise trips that our community is interested in. If the trips fit your schedule and liking, you are free to join us and have fun! We do not do this for profit. Hence, we do not plan trips for groups without being on the trip ourselves.

Douglas aka the underwater gangster is a great organiser and takes a lot of thought and consideration into the trips he plans. He’s big on safety but knows how to make people laugh, enjoy themselves and get the most out of their trip. Douglas was vvv patient even though I was a slow learner. He made me feel safe underwater and my diving experience very pleasant! His passion and knowledge about the waters, skills and different dive sites are invaluable and I’ll definitely remember this experience for a Long time!!
Douglas is the best dive instructor you can get. Thanks a lot for getting me into this fantastic sport. I have had a blast so far. All dives after my certification and advanced have been a piece of cake thanks to his great instruction. I have not come across anyone taking more care of safety.
